Event Gallery recently held a Runway Production School in Melbourne and when I heard about it I couldn't go past the opportunity to learn from the who's who in Australian fashion (and the world for that matter). Hosted by the highly articulate Daniel Pizzato who brought a wealth of knowledge from runway shows in Australia and the world. Major focuses of this course were production, styling, collections, PR, hair & make-up, model casting and backstage management.

Olympic Spirit

I couldn't let the Olympics go past without having a post inspired by it, so I decided to show you some of my photos from my trip to London last year. I took all of these photos, I just went a tad nuts with a new photo editing software called Pixlr-o-matic.

Finding Gems

As promised in my Hidden Gems and Rough Diamonds post, I had a bit more of a search in the city to find some more Look.Stop.Shop installations that I couldn't find last time. These beautiful little watercolour (I think) artworks were in the window of a shop called Design A Space down a tiny little laneway called Manchester Lane. The artist is Emma Leonard. 

Hamer Hall Opening

For the past 2 years there's been construction and renovations on Hamer Hall in Melbourne and it's finally time for the great unveiling. I went along today because there was meant to be a backstage tour at 11am, however when I got there I was told that it was a misprint and the tour was for the Arts Centre which is next door. Kinda disappointed about that because I performed at Hamer Hall in high school and was really looking forward to seeing what it looks like now.

Untainted, Flawless Lana

I am now officially 100% team Lana. Not that I wasn't before, but I really didn't know what to expect before I saw her live after seeing the SNL fiasco. Lana (because I know you'll read this *cough*), you are amazing. I'm sorry for ever doubting you and I will defend your talent against anyone who says otherwise. 

Whose Wardrobe? My Wardrobe.

I've been looking for the perfect market for a while now to sell some second hand clothing which I feel it too good for the opshop. Whose Wardrobe came along last month and I blogged about it when I went along to check it out (click here) but this time I decided to get a stall. Compared to the first time I went, there was about double the amount of clothing and a lot more punters which was a good sign.

Time In Motion

I was recently in the Arts Centre having a look around and I found this little photographic exhibition tucked away in a corridor near the main foyer. Time In Motion celebrates 50 years of the Australian Ballet with some of the current dancers and their achievements. 

Hidden Gems and Rough Diamonds

Melbourne is widely known for it's laneways but so often we hear about them but don't actually go an explore them. Look.Stop.Shop have created a fusion of art and shopping with their project Hidden Gems and Rough Diamonds. As I love Melbourne, shopping and art, I though this would be great to explore but unfortunately I decided to go on the first day and it wasn't all on display yet.

Fake It 'Til You Make It, Right?

I was interviewed to volunteer at the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week so I decided to do a fashion blogger inspired post, even though I hate looking at photos of myself. I volunteered for the Spring Fashion Week last year and absolutely loved it and make some new friends along the way.

Last year it was mostly promo work which was a tad boring, and I had one shift dressing models backstage. I'm hoping this year that I get to do front of house/ushering so I can see all the shows for free.

Blast From The Past | Big Day Out 2010

So the Big Day Out 2013 line-up is out and I thought I'd take this chance to write about my first major music festival experience, Big Day Out 2010. What a day. Big Day Out 2010 was the first time I'd ever seen my favourite band Kasabian as well (I've seen the 3 more times since). They were pretty much the whole reason why I agreed to go. The total attendance of all the Big Day Out festivals in 2010 was 337,248 people, which is massive.

Bush Couture

So in another somewhat hidden gallery in Melbourne you will find the Linda Jackson Bush Couture exhibition. The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV): Ian Potter Centre is found at Federation Square and is mostly free to enter (except for a couple of exhibitions). I'd like to point out that in no way am I professional photographer (or writer for that matter) and I don't have a DSLR camera so the photos are fairly average because I wasn't allowed to use the flash.

Blast From The Past | Pyramid Rock Festival 2010

Going to Pyramid Rock in 2010 was the first time I'd ever been to a multi-day festival. Of course I was super excited for the music, however I'm not much of a camping person and I do like my cleanliness. So armed with dry shampoo, wet wipes and a lot of sunscreen, we headed down to Phillip Island.

Royal Melbourne

Tucked away in a secret little gallery in Melbourne you will find the Royal Melbourne exhibition celebrating Her Majesty The Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the past 60 years of her reign. I have know this was on for a couple of weeks but whenever I walked past it, it was always closed. So the other day I checked to see if it was open and to my delight, it was! I'd never been in this tiny exhibition space located in the City Gallery outside of the Melbourne Town Hall and was quite surprised at what they had in there.

The Light In Winter

Each year in June "The Light In Winter" is exhibited at Federation Square in Melbourne to celebrate winter and the magic it brings. It aims to bring together the creative brilliance in Melbourne to create a whimsical art piece for everyone to see. This year there was a illuminated see saw with the light following the lowest point of the seat. There's a video further down of us discovering this.

After lunch, we hiked across town to The Carlton on Bourke Street but on the way found a new art installation in the Myer windows in the Bourke Street Mall celebrating the 150th Birthday of the Melbourne Zoo. Each window had a big elephant in it with a variety of masterpieces, one of which was painted by my animal counterpart, Mali.
