Melbourne is widely known for it's laneways but so often we hear about them but don't actually go an explore them. Look.Stop.Shop have created a fusion of art and shopping with their project Hidden Gems and Rough Diamonds. As I love Melbourne, shopping and art, I though this would be great to explore but unfortunately I decided to go on the first day and it wasn't all on display yet.
I still managed to find a couple of stores with their installations up including Gyegi at Melbourne's GPO (pictured above), The Melbourne Shop in a little laneway near Melbourne's GPO and Lenko in the Cathedral Arcade.
On my travels through the Melbourne laneways, I also found some really cool street art like this painted motorcyclist outside a motorcycle mechanic off Little Lonsdale street, and the amazing animal linework prints pictured further down which were in some tiny little laneway that I'd never been down before.
I'm going to be in the city again in the coming days so I'm going to try and find some more shops and hopefully the installations will all be up by then so look out for that post. If you want a full list of the shops and a map, click here. Even though they weren't all up yet, I still had a great day and I recommend this if you are planning to have a day shopping in the city with friends.
