Luna 1878

August 23, 2012

I'm assuming if you live in Melbourne, you've been to the Queen Victoria Markets during the day, and they're fine for passing some time but they're not great. There are always so many cheap and crappy touristy products which really aren't worth your time. But come nightfall, the markets transform into a local artists and designer paradise. The Luna 1878 Markets is a series of night markets during winter at the Queen Victoria Markets, and I went along to the 3rd night.

There's a huge mixture of cool local products from clothing, plants, home-wares, gifts, kids stuff and lots of lots of yummy food!

Each night has a different theme with great music and entertainment.

There's one more Luna 1878 Night Market to come on the 29th of August so if you want something to entertain you on a Wednesday night, go check it out. If you want to go but can't make it next week, don't stress, the Queen Victoria Markets have a longer series of night markets during summer which shouldn't be too far away.

  1. Ooh, thanks for the heads up. Will try to get alone on the 29th. I agree the non-food bit of the market is pretty average. The deli bit is AWESOME though.

    1. I mainly go to the daytime market for cheap gemstones to make rings and necklaces with.
