Famous For Fashion

March 30, 2013

Part of the perks of volunteering for fashion week is that you get to go backstage at runway shows and you get to see runway shows for free. I was working front of house for a runway show at the Malvern Town Hall in Melbourne for LMFF and got to see some of the local designers showcase their collections on the runway.

LMFF13 Behind The Scenes

March 27, 2013

Ever wandered how much work goes into a fashion show before the runway event? Volunteering at the L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival has certainly opened my eyes up to the behind the scenes of fashion and taught me a lot. It may look glamorous from the runway, but there are a million busy people backstage and in the offices making it all happen.

National Designer Awards | Behind The Scenes

March 24, 2013

The other day I woke up at 4:30am (yes you read that right) to head into the city for the National Designer Awards at Tiffany & Co. in Melbourne. These awards have launched some of big name Australian designers including Romance Was Born and Josh Goot. This year's finalists were Kathryn Beker, From Britten, Livia Arena, Lui Hon and Michael Lo Sordo. Menswear designer From Britten were announced as the winners and took home the trophy, handy prize money and a buttload of PR.

House of Holland x Sportsgirl

March 22, 2013

If you've been following my blog for a while you may remember my Whitney Eve post where international designer and sweetheart Whitney Port collaborated with Sportsgirl. Well Sportsgirl are at it again with a collaboration with British designer House of Holland. Just as Whitney Port came to visit the land down under, so did Henry Holland. I went along to his in-store appearance at the Bourke St Sportsgirl store this evening for a chat with Henry.

In The Dark Of Night

March 19, 2013

Thought I'd do a quick outfit post showing you what I wore to Paris '99 last Friday night.

Paris '99

March 17, 2013

When I found out that there was a L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival event in my area I knew I couldn't miss it! And I'm glad I didn't. Paris '99 is a high end designer resale concept store established in 2010 by Yahav Ron. If you're looking for beautiful designer clothes at 80-90% off retail price, this is definitely the place to go!

Penthouse Mouse

March 15, 2013

Penthouse Mouse is a creative warehouse space in Melbourne that showcases some of the best designers and artists going around. This week it's been open as part of the L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival showcasing designers such as keegan clothing (the dress below) and Arizono jewellery. Tonight (15/03/2013) they are hosting two runway shows for the LMFF program featuring designers like Leonard St, Autonomy and NEO DIA. There are still some tickets available if you're reading this as I've published it, Click here for details

The Hardware Sociéte

March 13, 2013

I really need to stop going out to lunch until I have a job, or some sort of steady stream of income. I just can't help myself. I love the cafes in Melbourne. I have to make a confession though, I actually wrote this blog post about a month ago and never had time to publish it, so it's being published now. I met up with some friends and we went to The Hardware Societe cafe for lunch. This cafe has been on the Urbanspoon Melbourne top 10 Talk Of The Town list for a while now so I was expecting good things.

Future Music Festival 2013

March 11, 2013

Sorry I've been neglecting my blog a bit this month, but it's been sooo hot and I haven't left the house unless absolutely necessary. On this day, it was. I braved the heat yesterday to go to Future Music Festival because the lineup was so damn good! The mercury was set to reach 33C and I was determined not to get sunburnt or dehydrated - which failed. The sunburn part anyway.

Fame Agenda

March 8, 2013

Fame Agenda is a boutique Melbourne based label with a unique collection of beautiful prints encapsulating femininity. Every piece is something you could wear whilst running through a field, spinning and twirling as you go. A fantasy that my best friend and I have shared for a while is finding a field of long grass or pretty flowers, wearing flowy dresses and running around taking pretty photos. Fame Agenda could definitely complete my self-indugent fantasy.

Georgia Fair

March 5, 2013

A couple of weekends ago was Save Australian Live Music Day (SLAM Day) but it was inconveniently on the same day at the White Night Festival so I didn't get to go to any gigs. I made up for it though by going to see my favourite Australian band a few days later. Georgia Fair are a folk/pop due from Sydney and are set to release their second album this year. I'd be counting down the days - if I knew when it was released.

Soundwave 2013

March 3, 2013

A while ago I came to the conclusion that there are two types of festivals, bogan festivals and hipster festivals. Soundwave, however, did not fall into either of my two categories. It was definitely something different altogether. I've always thought that Soundwave has always had a consistently amazing lineup for the genre it caters for, even if you don't like this sort of music, you can't deny that. This year was no different with rock gods Metallica headlining and a collection of the world's elite rock, metal and punk bands putting on great shows.
