Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show

March 31, 2014

If you weren't aware already, I have a bit of an obsession with Alice In Wonderland, so going to the Melbourne International Flower and Garden show was really just a way to indulge that. I'd never been before so I was excited when they emailed me asking if I'd like a media pass. Also I was excited that anyone would think I matter enough to give me a media pass. The show was really quiet beautiful. Inside there was display after display of amazing floristry talent, whilst outside were some of the coolest gardens and landscaping I'd ever seen.

Kara Liu x Belmore Bootmakers

March 28, 2014

Nestled away in the lanes of Melbourne's QV shopping centre is the local designer boutique Belmore Bootmakers who produce locally manufactured leather shoes in a warehouse in Sydney. As part of the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival cultural program, they've teamed up with another local designer Kara Liu to produce some gorgeous leather loafers. I went along to the launch party the other night with my blogger friend Vulette (Young Red Violets) and her photographer (aka boyfriend) to have a sticky at the new range. My favourite were these baby pink leather loafers that I think would look amazing with spotty socks. I have a bit of an obsession with socks at the moment.

The Boutique Edition // VAMFF

March 27, 2014

The last event I worked at as part of VAMFF was The Boutique Edition in Malvern. This has got to be one of my favourite venues to work in and, as a bonus, I got to sit front row for one of the shows. As per usual, I only had my phone with me so I tried to take a couple of snaps to publish but they're pretty dodgy looking. The designers for this show were Camilla, Carla Zampatti, Et Al, John Cavill, Lisa Barron, Moss & Spy, Nicolangela, Rachel Gilbert and Trelise Cooper.

Shop Til You Drop Runway // VAMFF

March 24, 2014

The first show I actually bought tickets to was the Shop Til You Drop runway, or Runway 7 as it's called on the website. I was super excited for this show because it had some of my favourite Australian designers in it. The lineup consisted of Limedrop, Alice McCall, Secret South, Bec & Bridge, MacGraw, Nevenka and Shakuhachi. I did have my DSLR camera this time, however the photos still turned out crap, but I tried to salvage the better ones.

Chapel Street Edition // VAMFF

March 23, 2014

All this week I've been lucky enough to volunteer at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF). I've mainly been working front of house, getting to see all the amazing shows, and also seeing some of the craziness that happens backstage. Because I've been working, I couldn't exactly take my DSLR camera around with me everywhere, so I took some sneaky shots with my phone and old crappy camera here and there when I could.

Mixtape // David Jones Runway VAMFF

March 18, 2014

Last night I was lucky enough to work at the David Jones Opening Night runway for the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival. I wanted to blog about the actual show, but taking runway photos on your phone really doesn't work, so I though since the music was so amazing, I'd make a playlist. So here are most of the songs featured during the runway! Enjoy :)

The Moor's Head South

March 12, 2014

I feel like I've been a bit of a foodie this week, which I am definitely not apologising for, because who doesn't like food?! I was ever so kindly invited along to try out a new restaurant that's just opened up in Elsternwick (about 15mins from the Melbourne CBD) called The Moor's Head. I say new, but they've been open in Thornbury for a while now and have just branched out to the southern suburbs.

Captains Of Industry

March 7, 2014

Melbourne is one of those cities where you cooould go to a chain cafe for a coffee, but you're really missing the whole point of coming to Melbourne if you do. Melbourne is famous for its laneways and it's hipster coffee hideaways, and this one has the best of both worlds. Captains Of Industry is located down a laneway and up some stairs on Somerset Place, off Little Bourke St and isn't just your usual cafe.

The Immersery // MFWF

March 4, 2014

It's that time of the year again when one of Melbourne's biggest festivals rolls out across the city with over 200 delicious events. The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is celebrating it's 21st birthday and one of the major attractions of this year's festival has got to be The Immersery. Located at the Queensbridge Square on Southbank (where the Urban Coffee Farm was last year), The Immersery brings together a kitchen, bar and raingarden. What's a raingarden you ask? A raingarden is much like a regular garden, except it's designed to collect stormwater from downpipes.

High Tea // Adelphi Hotel

March 2, 2014

When I received the email inviting me to high tea at Adelphi Hotel in Melbourne, I hastily grabbed my phone, called work, and told them I'm no longer available to work on Sunday. Our high tea experience was to be held at Adelphi's dessert bar Om Nom (best name ever!) with a room full of bloggers and media guests. The first thing you noticed when entering the hotel was the gorgeous interior design and decoration. I was quite captivated by this seat/swing that was suspended from the ceiling. When I'm rich, I'm totally putting one of these in my house.
