Urban Coffee Farm

February 28, 2013

Today I was asked last minute to help set up one of the main attractions of this year's Melbourne Food And Wine Festival. The Urban Coffee Farm is a pop-up outdoor cafe and bar located on Southbank where that crazy bridge with the weird sculptures left over from the Commonwealth Games a couple of years back is. I wasn't really doing anything that interesting, manual labor and such, but it was a nice day and I got to chat and meet new people which is always fun.

White Night Wonder

February 24, 2013

The White Night Festival had a lot to live up to last night. Between the advertising and word of mouth, everyone thought it was going to be a history making event. And it was, but maybe not for the reasons we were all hoping for. To me White Night was meant to be a cultural celebration of music, art, cinema, light and theatre but it seemed to turn into one massive booze-filled street party. I think the City massively underestimated how many people were going to come in for this event.

After Party @ Veludo

February 18, 2013

Last week I attended the St Kilda Festival Staff after party at Veludo Upstairs in St Kilda. Veludo is one of my favourite venues with it's whimical garden party decor and the array of acoustic live music that wafts through the air. There was plenty of free food and drink to go around, which is always a bonus, and I got to hang out and catch up with all the amazing people I'd met throughout the week.

Sass And Bide Wintergate

February 16, 2013

You can always trust the fashion industry to be finding new and innovative ways to show their creations to the world. This morning (for me anyway) Australian powerhouse Sass and Bide did just that by broadcasting their London Fashion Week runway show on Instagram as it was happening. So here they are, enjoy your sneak peak into their Wintergate collection. I'm sure there will be more photos very soon! These photos are from the @SassAndBide Instagram profile.

St Kilda Festival 2013

February 13, 2013

Heading down to St Kilda I wasn't in the best mood. I had no idea who was going to the festival and I knew there would be a million people there and I was right. However my mood quickly changed when I headed over to the New Music Stage and watched Perth band Stillwater Giants. I also met up with a friend I'd made whilst working during the week and we chatted and enjoyed the music.

Meeting Bob Evans and Tinpan Orange

February 10, 2013

The St Kilda Festival held a number of music based forums this week and I managed to get along to a couple. The first one featured Australian artist Kevin Mitchell, or better know for his solo project Bob Evans. He is also the lead singer of the band Jebediah and a member of Australian super group Basement Birds. Also in the discussion were the talented guys responsible for the award winning music video production agency Oh Yeah Wow. Bob Evans and Oh Yeah Wow have recently teamed up to create Bob Evans' new music video which we got to see and hear all the behind the scenes details.

Luke Legs And The Midnight Specials

February 8, 2013

So as you may or may not know, I've been working at the St Kilda Festival all this week but have found it quite difficult to get out of my cosy little info booth home and enjoy some music. Last night I made sure I ventured out into the world so I could see a gig at the Readings bookshop in Acland Street, St Kilda. I didn't actually know the band who were playing, but that's the beauty of the Live n Local week. The one thing I love more than discovering new places to eat, is discovering local bands.

St Kilda Festival | Yalukit Wilum Ngargee

February 3, 2013

This week I have taken on the role as the Volunteer Coordinator for the St Kilda Festival. So far it's been great fun because I've got to hang out with a whole bunch of awesome volunteers and spend my days in sunny St Kilda.

D.I.Y Collar Bling

February 1, 2013

So when I was out shopping at Harbour Town, I found this necklace in Diva for $4. I was instantly drawn to it because of the little lions on it, but I didn't like it as a necklace. For $4 I couldn't leave it behind, so I bought it in the hopes of finding a better way to wear it. I decided to turn it into collar bling and a bracelet/cuff.
