There's nothing better than getting free tickets to pretty much anything, but especially music festivals. Summadayze has never been a festival that I've particularly wanted to go to, but you can't turn down free tickets. The line up was okay in that Kimbra and Mark Ronson were playing. Although I hadn't heard of pretty much everyone else on the line up.
So if you haven't already guessed, this post is all about Kimbra because, well, she deserves a post dedicated to her. We got to Summadayze just before she started her set and headed straight to the front of the stage. As per usual, she was wearing an eclectic, custom made dress/costume which only she could pull off. If you can't tell by the photos, she has bubblegum blue wigs as shoulder pads/sleeves.
The skirt was made of ribbons and as she danced around the stage I had the overwhelming urge to steal it and wear it myself. The backdrop was also amazing and looked like a massive brightly colourful tribal painting.
I'm assuming you at least know Kimbra from the Gotye song 'Somebody That I Used To Know,' which is great, but her solo music is so so different. Her music is very pop with a hint of jazz and dance. Overall just amazing. I suggest you go away and download her album. It's worth it.
So once you download her album, the next step is to go see her live. She has a phenomenal voice and is a great entertainer. I've seen her live three times now. I'll be posting two more blogs about Summadayze in the coming days so look out for them! I hope you all had a good new years and such.
