Visiting Graceland & Sun Studios in Memphis

August 30, 2015

Memphis is definitely one of the cities I was most looking forward to visiting on this trip. There's so much history and culture here, especially in terms of music. It didn't disappoint either.
On our first night we headed out to a ball game. I don't know a lot about baseball, but when in America hey! It was actually a pretty fun night. We scoffed hotdogs and nachos, and at the end there was a fireworks show that rivaled that of Disneyland.
Day 2 we set off to Graceland. On the way we stopped off at the Lorraine Motel, the location of Martin Luther King Jr's assassination in 1968. We soon arrived at Graceland, which has been somewhere I've wanted to visit for a long time. The mansion was absolutely beautiful and each room was so different. We also got to check out some of Elvis' many outfits and cars.
From Graceland we kept in the rock n roll theme and checked out Sun Studios. This place is arguably the birthplace of rock n roll and where Elvis was discovered. Both Graceland and Sun Studios were so interesting and surreal.
We spent the rest of the time exploring Beale Street, including catching some live music at BB King's Blues Club. Memphis was incredible and I highly recommend you add it to your bucket list, especially if you're a music lover like myself.
