I feel like I say this at least a couple of times a month, but I seriously did not know this place existed. Formerly known as the Belgian Beer Cafe Bluestone, the Village Brasserie is an indoor/outdoor bar which creates the atmosphere of being in Central Europe, although you've barely left the Melbourne CBD. Currently, the buildings and the grounds are being converted into an urban cultural community hub. We went there to have some chilled drinks, although being the poor uni student I am, it was a bit pricey. Still good none the less.
Outdoors was a maze of tables and chairs being illuminated by several long strands of string lights. Also because it was such a balmy pre-summer evening, it was very relaxing to sit outside and have a chat.
I also bought some dinner but my camera didn't do it justice when I was trying to take a photo. It was macaroni and cheese with truffle oil. Very yum but very filling.
It then started raining (typical Melbourne) and everyone evacuated the exposed areas. Luckily we were under a big marquee so we didn't get wet. I really love discovering places like this. I'm so over seedy nightclubs and much prefer a chilled drink at cool bar. If you want to find out what else is happening at the Village Melbourne, you can check out their website here.
