Today I thought I'd share with you one of my most frequented cafes in Melbourne, the Giraffe Cafe. Or Cafe Giraffe. I'm not entirely sure which way is correct. Cafe Giraffe is an adorable and homely little cafe on Little Lonsdale Street between Elizabeth Street and Queen Street. I particularly like this cafe because it is fairly cheap (most meals are $10 or under) and the serving sizes wont make you obese.
Usually the food is quite good, not three hat restaurant standard, but yummy for a quick lunch. However on this particular day I decided to be adventurous and try the vegetarian lasagne. I normally love veggie lasagne but this one was 90% carrot and I could barely eat it. I think next time I'll stick to what I usually get. Risotto, pies and nachos.
My friend and I also got some veggie dumplings to share. I'm not a huge fan of dumplings but these are okay for my liking. My friend also got nachos and I wish I had've done that instead of trying to be adventurous.
The decor is probably my favourite part of Cafe Giraffe. It is covered with random odds and ends in a chic, vintage way. Everything is a bit mix and match but somehow it all works together really well. They also have a range of boardgames to play if you need to kill some time on your lunch break.
Please don't let my negativity towards the veggie lasagne put you off going, it really is a good cafe. Just order something different haha. Also the desserts are amazing. I recommend going there for a coffee and cake any day!
Cute cafe, I really like how mismatched it looks. If only I were in Australia!
ReplyDeleteI love your photographs, they look so vintage. What camera do you use?

DeleteWhat an adorable little cafe. I am always on the lookout for new ones. Eating out is one of my most favourite things to do in Melbourne so I may have to check this one out! xxx
