Tesselaar Tulip Festival

September 24, 2012

Tucked away in the hills about an hours drive from Melbourne is a little slice of floral heaven in the town of Silvan. The Tesselaar Tulip Festival was dreamt up by the Grandfather of the now owners of the beautiful tulip farm and once a year they open it to the public.
Wearing: Sportsgirl SS10 top, Cynthia Rowley khaki jacket, Valleygirl black leggings, Rubi boots, Nica Alicia Acrossbody bag in coral, sunnies from Elizabeth St in Melbourne, various gold jewellery.

I'd been once before with my grandparents when I was very young, and for the past couple of years I've tried to go but haven't had the time or forgot. Not this year though. My friend Nicole and I drove up to Silvan to visit this beautiful array of colourful tulips. We were really surprised how easy it was to drive up and also how quick it was.

There are several different themes throughout the festival and as you might be able to tell, we went to the Dutch themed weekend.

With over half a million flowers and 100 different varieties, the Tesselaar Tulip Festival is the perfect place for some pretty photo taking. There's plenty of food and entertainment, and although this is very much aimed to entertain kids, it really can appeal to everyone. We definitely had fun.

We also made some furry friends.

And discovered a fairy garden.

The Tesselaar Tulip Festival is on until the 8th of October so if you want to go check it out, you've still got some time. Also have a look at their website to see what's going on when you're there. I had no idea they had themed days until I was writing this blog, I though the whole festival was Dutch themed. Derp.
