St Kilda Festival 2015

February 13, 2015

Melbourne's biggest free street festival St Kilda Festival was on again last weekend with an estimated 200,000-300,000 attendees. The day started off a bit gloomy but in true Melbourne style it all turned around with the sun shining all afternoon.

St Kilda Festival Sunday 2014

♫ Listening // Lester The Fierce - Howl

After working at the St Kilda Festival all week, I was a bit over crowds of people, so I decided to stick to a couple of the smaller stages. Also, my friend who I was working for programmed these stages and gave me tips on which bands I would most enjoy.

St Kilda Festival Live n Local

February 9, 2014

This week I've put in over 75 hours of time working at the St Kilda Festival for the second year in a row. The St Kilda Festival is a landmark event on the Melbourne events calendar being one of the biggest free street festivals in the Southern Hemisphere. Most people will be familiar with Festival Sunday, which is happening as I type this, however I was working at the Live n Local week. This is where bands from the local area play free gigs all throughout St Kilda, and this year South Melbourne and Port Melbourne.

St Kilda Festival Giveaway {closed}

February 3, 2014

The St Kilda Festival Live N Local week is in full swing with heaps of awesome free live music happening all throughout St Kilda. To celebrate this, I have a huge CD pack to give away filled with local and up-and-coming bands. For those of you who are unaware, the St Kilda Festival Live N Local week is a compilation of bands where a member of the band must either live or work in the St Kilda Area.

After Party @ Veludo

February 18, 2013

Last week I attended the St Kilda Festival Staff after party at Veludo Upstairs in St Kilda. Veludo is one of my favourite venues with it's whimical garden party decor and the array of acoustic live music that wafts through the air. There was plenty of free food and drink to go around, which is always a bonus, and I got to hang out and catch up with all the amazing people I'd met throughout the week.

St Kilda Festival 2013

February 13, 2013

Heading down to St Kilda I wasn't in the best mood. I had no idea who was going to the festival and I knew there would be a million people there and I was right. However my mood quickly changed when I headed over to the New Music Stage and watched Perth band Stillwater Giants. I also met up with a friend I'd made whilst working during the week and we chatted and enjoyed the music.

Meeting Bob Evans and Tinpan Orange

February 10, 2013

The St Kilda Festival held a number of music based forums this week and I managed to get along to a couple. The first one featured Australian artist Kevin Mitchell, or better know for his solo project Bob Evans. He is also the lead singer of the band Jebediah and a member of Australian super group Basement Birds. Also in the discussion were the talented guys responsible for the award winning music video production agency Oh Yeah Wow. Bob Evans and Oh Yeah Wow have recently teamed up to create Bob Evans' new music video which we got to see and hear all the behind the scenes details.

Luke Legs And The Midnight Specials

February 8, 2013

So as you may or may not know, I've been working at the St Kilda Festival all this week but have found it quite difficult to get out of my cosy little info booth home and enjoy some music. Last night I made sure I ventured out into the world so I could see a gig at the Readings bookshop in Acland Street, St Kilda. I didn't actually know the band who were playing, but that's the beauty of the Live n Local week. The one thing I love more than discovering new places to eat, is discovering local bands.

St Kilda Festival | Yalukit Wilum Ngargee

February 3, 2013

This week I have taken on the role as the Volunteer Coordinator for the St Kilda Festival. So far it's been great fun because I've got to hang out with a whole bunch of awesome volunteers and spend my days in sunny St Kilda.
