Meeting Bob Evans and Tinpan Orange

The St Kilda Festival held a number of music based forums this week and I managed to get along to a couple. The first one featured Australian artist Kevin Mitchell, or better know for his solo project Bob Evans. He is also the lead singer of the band Jebediah and a member of Australian super group Basement Birds. Also in the discussion were the talented guys responsible for the award winning music video production agency Oh Yeah Wow. Bob Evans and Oh Yeah Wow have recently teamed up to create Bob Evans' new music video which we got to see and hear all the behind the scenes details. 

Oh Yeah Wow are also responsible for a number of other music videos including British India's I Can Make You Love Me, where they hired a make up artist from The Hobbit to create a minotaur mask. As well as Gotye's Easy Way Out which took 2 weeks over 2 years to film. 

I know I couldn't leave this forum without getting a photo with Kevin since I've seen him live 3 times in two different bands. So we suppressed our fan girling and got a happy snap with him. 

The second forum I went to, I only managed to see the second half of but it was so interesting to hear about all the work that goes into recording and producing a CD. Our guests of honour on this panel were Emily and Jesse from Melbourne band Tinpan Orange. 

If you're not familiar with Tinpan Orange, perhaps you're familiar with the song Dumb Ways To Die which Emily sung. We also got a photo with Emily after the forum. She was absolutely lovely and was wearing a navy jumpsuit which looked amazing on her.

Overall I'd say it was a pretty good day haha. I would've loved to get out and see more of the festival but I did have a job to do after all and I neglected it a bit on this day. Luckily I was working with a group of amazing people who could cover for me whilst I fan girled.
