I've had a bit of an obsession with Japan for pretty much all my life now. It's probably stemmed from the fact that I learned Japanese for 10 years of my life and also went on exchange to Japan when I was 15. So this exhibition really tickled my fancy.
The Future Beauty exhibition at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art is celebrating 30 years of Japanese fashion with an array of modern and traditional garments, some very wearable, some not so much. Japan has always pushed the boundaries of modern fashion and I love seeing the progression of it.
There's also a super kawaii (see what I did there) shop out the front of the exhibition with lots of Japanese bits and pieces. There are some great Japanese street style books that I was tempted to buy, but I've done so much shopping on this holiday that I'm worried I won't be able to get it all home. Future Beauty is on at GOMA (Gallery Of Modern Art) on South Bank in Brisbane until the 15th of Feb 2015.
