Night Noodle Markets

November 22, 2013

I have a confession to make, I really love noodles. So much so that as a kid my nickname was noodles, and my uncle still calls me that to this day. Even on Christmas and Birthday cards. I mean who doesn't love noodles? So when I was invited to dine at the VIP tent for the Melbourne Good Month Night Noodle Market, I simply couldn't turn it down.
This little reserved sign did make me quite happy :)
Before the event I was emailed a menu of the Banh Mi Boys food truck that I thought we would have to choose one dish from. Wrong. We got one of each dish. Let's just say we were delighted and sufficiently full once we'd chowed down on the delicious Vietnamese street food.
Our first dish was Bangin’ Banh Mi Baguette with pork belly and zesty chicken, with a side of Chatnam Island Cod Ceviche (I think). The baguettes were amazing and although neither myself nor my friend are big fans of eating fish, we were pleasantly surprised at how much we liked this dish! It reminded me of my trip to Japan in 2007.
Our second dish was the Good Food Month Bun Noodle Salad with eggplant (one of my vegetable loves) and a side of duck. The duck wasn't on the menu so I'm not sure exactly how it was cooked. After finishing our meals, we waddled into the market in search of ice cream. I found peanut butter ice cream which was one of the most delicious things I've ever tried! I could probably eat a bucket of it!
If there was one thing I kept seeing on Instagram from the Night Noodle Market, it was this abundance of lanterns, which of course I too Instagramed. We took some pictures and as we looked around, realised everyone else was also taking selfies and instagramming, so good work on this one Good Food Month.
The Night Noodle Market is on in Melbourne until the 30th of November so go indulge yourself! I'm definitely going to go back next week to try some more noodles!!
