Otway Treetop Adventure & the 12 Apostles // #RoadTripMelbourne

May 26, 2014

Day two of #RoadTripMelbourne picked up where we left off last time, in Apollo Bay. Once again we were up very early and on the road, heading towards the Otway National Park Treetop Adventure and Zip Line. Unfortunately when we arrived, we found out we didn’t have a booking for the zip line, but we could still go for a wonder through the trees.
The Otway Treetop Adventure is about a 2km walk with stunning views of the canopy. I spent a lot of the walk looking down scanning the ground for echidnas and other wildlife.
During the walk you have the opportunity to climb up a 30m high tower to get the best views of the forest. Of course I led the way to the top and may have tried to make it sway when I got there hehe. It was an incredible view!
We then soldiered on towards Port Campbell and the 12 Apostles. One thing I didn’t know we were doing that ended up being one of the highlights of the whole trip was a short helicopter ride. I’d never been on a helicopter before and flying really isn’t my favourite thing, but I absolutely loved the experience! We flew over the ocean and got a bird’s eye view of the coastline.
A short drive down the coast, we came to London Bridge and decided to stay and watch the sunset here, which was beautiful. Another 45min drive later and we finally arrived at the last destination for the day, the regional town on Warrnambool. We stayed at the Lady Bay Resort, which had great views from the balcony windows, and enjoyed a 2 course dinner at their restaurant.
