One thing everyone in any city in the world needs to do is support the local talent a bit more. We all spend hundreds of dollars on concerts and festivals each year (well I do anyway), but all those bands started somewhere, and it was in local pubs and bars. An image came up on my Facebook news-feed this week and it spurred me to do just that. My friend and I set off to the other side of the city to the Grace Darling Hotel in Collingwood to see a couple of bands play.
The bands we saw were Pretty City, Grand Prismatic, Autoportraits and Bored Nothing. We'd already seen Bored Nothing before and liked their music so that was the main draw card. It was only $8 entry too which is pretty damn good. I hope this inspires you to go out and discover some local talent wherever in the world you are. It's definitely worth it, and much better than going to sleazy clubs.

Going out to a local gig is possibly my favourite weekend thing to do! My boyfriend is a musician so for him its essential to get to know other musicians and check out the scene. Nothing like finding a new band and watching their progress as they get better and better!
