Inspired by the absinthe-drenched cabarets of late-19th century Europe, Absinthe
is an adult-themed cocktail of circus, burlesque and vaudeville for a
21st century audience, hosted by the outrageous Gazillionaire and his
sidekick Penny.
I have to admit, this is not the sort of thing I would usually go to. I'm not really a fan of Cirque du Solei, or any circuses for that matter, but I was ever so kindly invited along to Absinthe as a media guest, and you can't say no to that. I am so unbelievably grateful that I did attend though. Absinthe is one of the funniest and most talented shows I've seen in a long time!
I'm a big fan of things that don't take themselves too seriously, and the humour in this show combined with the incredible acrobatic talent made it one for my must-see list! We were crying laughing the whole time, whilst being completely in awe of the performers.

The jokes are incredibly dirty and there's a butt-load (pun intended) of nudity. If you can laugh at yourself and laugh at the ridiculous, you will love this show just like I did! *warning* There is audience participation, one of my biggest fears. If, like me, you're terrified of being called up onto the stage, I recommend not getting tickets in the first couple of rows. (Thanks for not picking on me Absinthe). Although, no matter where you're sitting in the Speigeltent, you will have a great view!
